Time for installment number two (ha I said number two...yeah I know I have the maturity level of a 9 year old boy). This week's post is another kind of mellow song but it one of my favorites as well. When I was getting married my now ex husband and I were looking (well mainly I was just looking) for the perfect song to dance to as our first dance. I have been forever a fan of James Taylor and have memories of being a little kid sitting in the corner of my dinning room next to my Dad's huge speakers listening to all the great singer/songwriters of that time. This song makes me tear up everytime I hear it. I wanted to be Carly Simon as a kid, I thought she was beautiful and would put an old towel over my head and pretend like I had long hair like she did. You Can Close Your Eyes was written as a lullaby for his son, but it was absolutely the most perfect song to dance to at my wedding. The marriage didn't last but it never tarnished my memory of this beautiful piece of music.
My favorite part about this video is how as the two of them are singing this really pretty song the captions are talking about their divorce and his drug addictions. Ahhh how romantic. At least I am choosing to believe at the time they made this they were happy in love and not strung out on heroin. : ) Happy Monday!!

Love this song! Thanks for sharing. I am going on youtube right now to listen to more JT. : )
Dude, I'm pretty sure my ex and I danced to James Taylor at our reception...should I be concerned that I don't remember for sure? Yeah, no we totally did! It was...well, yeah. I can't remember which song it was. Probably for the best!
I FEEL FINE! It was I Feel Fine. Whew, no need to worry about early-onset Alzheimer's!
Except that it's called Something In the Way She Moves. I'm really losing it, clearly.
great song! great songwriters, the both of them!
i love your memory of putting the towel on your head. thanks for sharing!
I do love me some James Taylor. My husband and I went to his concert a few years ago. I have to say it was right up there with seeing the Rolling Stones. Great time!!
Carly does a very lovely new version of this song on her 2007 album INTO WHITE.
Check it out..She sings it with her son, Ben Taylor
I wish I could reciprocate your romantic comment on my blog, but really? James Taylor? For shame. For shame.
Oh, and you just wait for Wordless Wednesday. You. Just. Wait.
Beautiful song. Even though the marriage didn't work, it was a perfect wedding song!!
A great song. I'm sure it was all about the love there and not about the drugs.
